  • August 12, 1935 - July 15, 2017

She had a beautiful smile and loved to make others laugh.

Pam passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in the early morning of July 15th, 2017 in Yorktown, Va. She was a native of Cincinnati, OH and resided in Virginia Beach, Va since 1975 until December 2016 when she moved to Yorktown, Va to live with her daughter and her family. She was a graduate of Hughes High School in Cincinnati, OH and attended University of Cincinnati and graduated from Central Art Academy in Cincinnati, OH. She worked as a commercial artist in Atlanta until she married William O.K. Rentz, Captain, USN (ret) in 1958. They were stationed in Yorktown Va, Key West FL, Idaho Falls Idaho, Norfolk VA, Alexandria VA, Long Beach CA, Aiea Hawaii and Virginia Beach VA. One of her fondest memories during that time was her trips to Hong Kong and Singapore.
Besides being a devoted mother and grandmother, she had many other interests. She was an excellent baker and cook, an artist, a gardener, floral arranger, an avid reader and loved to sew and knit. She volunteered at Creeds Elementary, where she was Volunteer of the Year; and at the Senior Resource Center, where she served as secretary. She was a Master gardener with the Virginia Beach Master Gardeners and loved teaching children about gardening and plants. Her greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren and family, especially making birthdays and holidays very special and memorable.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ervin Theodore Stephens and Bertha Stephens, and her ex-husband William O. K. Rentz. She is survived by her devoted children Cindi Rentz Rader and her husband Lou Rader, Craig Rentz and wife Wynne Rentz; brother Dale Stephens; grandchildren Kylee Rader Reisenfeld and husband Sam Reisenfeld; Logan Rader, Kendra Rentz, and Nolan Rentz, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She has shared with them a lifetime of baking, gardening, laughter, guidance and love.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Virginia Beach Master Gardeners, Virginia Tech Agriculture Research and Extension Center and the Virginia Beach SPCA.
